At FinnFest 2025, Finlandia Foundation National (FFN) is presenting a dynamic lineup of programs that highlight Finnish culture, leadership, and innovation. In partnership with the Embassy of Finland and Fulbright Finland, FFN is co-hosting a Saturday morning panel to raise awareness about diverse Fulbright opportunities, featuring remarks by the Ambassador and curated by Ed Spivak. FFN’s Performer of the Year, Charlotte Loukola, will take the Tori stage on Sunday, and Lecturer of the Year, Eero Kilpi, will give a Saturday presentation and join the Sauna Seminar panel. A Marimekko fashion show, oral history recordings, and a high-level networking event with Young Leaders and Ambassador Mikkola are also in the works. Additional highlights include a Finnish Heritage Night at the Duluth Huskies baseball game and FFN’s ongoing support for exhibits and talks at the Duluth art gallery and Hancock Folk School.

2025 held a record-breaking celebration of the Finnish sauna tradition, engaging thousands of sauna enthusiasts across the U.S. and beyond. This year’s event featured an exciting mix of in-person and online experiences, bringing the warmth of Finnish culture to communities everywhere.
With the closing in 2023 of Finlandia University, which was founded in 1896 as Suomi College, FFN stepped in to become the caretaker of the Finnish American Heritage Center and its extensive archives and artifacts, the monthly Finnish American Reporter, the Finnish American Folk School, the Art Gallery, Price of Freedom Museum and North Wind Books store.

Job Opportunity: Curator of Special Exhibitions
Finlandia Foundation National is seeking a creative and experienced history or museum professional to serve as Curator of Special Exhibitions for a special project at the Finnish American Heritage Center in Hancock, Michigan. This freelance position runs from September 1, 2025 to March 31, 2026.
The curator will develop a traveling and digital exhibition based on our “Price of Freedom” collection, commemorating the 80th anniversary of the end of WWII and highlighting Finland’s role in the Winter War. Preference will be given to candidates who can be on-site in Hancock, though remote work with travel is possible.
